imperfections, present media and us.

Six years ago, a girl I really liked said that love is finding comfort in all of someone’s imperfections. She’s an idiot bitch. But anyhow, I do find that appreciation of flaws gives certain character and attachment to anything.  Embracing it is even encouraged in my book. Lo-fi music is fantastic.  Digital media has become such a mainstay of our culture, that I’m glad a book like Glitch: Designing Imperfection is so appealing and needed.  The images are decadently distorted, and so is the memory of that girl — it’s a good thing.

album covers, reimagined as penguin bks

Here is the a flickr set from a freelance designer who took classic record covers and re-imagined them in the style of paperback penguin/pelican books.  They look gorgeous, sort of keeping the album’s nostalgic quality but still providing a refreshing new take.  There’s some great ones like Bjork, Joy Division, The Chemical Brothers, and more, so give it a lookey look.  Here’s Beastie Boys’ License to Ill and below is some Penguin book covers for comparison.
